Community representatives continue to work on Decorah's application to participate in Iowa's "Blue Zone Project." The group working on the application will hold a meeting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce offices to pick a leadership team which will develop a community wellness vision.
Decorah Mayor Don Arendt, City Manager Chad Bird and Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nikki Brevig are serving as co-chairs for Decorah's Blue Zone committee.
"It is still important for community members to become involved. They can do so by providing input, becoming part of the leadership team, or take the pledge at www.bluezonesproject.com." Brevig noted. "We moved into the top 30 and it shows community support and engagement, a very important component in the Blue Zone process."
If you are interested in working as part of the leadership team, please contact Nikki Brevig at director@decorahareachamber.com or at 563-382-3990 for more details. Community members can also contact the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce to show their willingness to be an active participant if Decorah is selected in May.
