Luther College's student newspaper, "Chips," has received an award from the Associated Collegiate Press for excellence and outstanding achievement by a college online publication.  The Online Pacemaker Award is based on design, ease of navigation, writing and editing, graphics and interactivity.

The online version of Luther College Chips won its first 2011 award at the Best of the Midwest competition sponsored by the same organization in Minneapolis.  The paper was then judged for the national award in the early spring.

Chips faculty adviser David Faldet stressed that the award was not just for design but for paper as a whole. "The writing, editing, photos, videos and headline choices all figure in the judges' decision," he said. "The award indicates the quality that the entire student staff, under Liz and Natalie's leadership, was able to produce."
