STEP results in increase in seatbelt use

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says seat belt usage showed a slight increase following the recent Thanksgiving holiday "Click It or Ticket" traffic initiative.

A survey of seat belt usage was conducted prior to the STEP campaign.  It showed 95 percent of vehicle occupants in Winneshiek County were using their seatbelts.  A second survey taken after the "Click It or Ticket" campaign showed seatbelt usage at 96.6 percent.
