Christmas cards collected by Northeast Iowa RSVP and other care package items have arrived in Afghanistan.

After receiving one of the packages, one soldier stated "It is great to know that Iowans look out for us and support us.  You all have no idea how much that means to us.  Iowa has touched many soldiers' hearts here.  The letters from the kids were great also.  I will write each of them back a letter.  Thank you very much."

The Iowa Bravest program sent care packages to Iowa soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.  Included in the care packages were Christmas stockings made by volunteers in Waterloo.  The troops came up with a creative way to display their stockings.  One of the soldiers reported that it was really hard to find paint where they are stationed to make the fireplace but they were very creative in finding a place to hang their stockings.

Soldiers who received the care packages included Devin Creek of Decorah and Andrew Hageman of Calmar.
