Mail deliveries in Decorah will now average one hour later each day

Many customers of the Decorah Post Office may notice they are now getting mail delivery one hour later than previously.

The changes come after the U.S. Postal Service decided to stop processing mail at the Decorah Post Office.  Instead, processing is now being handled at the Waterloo Post Office.  

USPS officials had said when they announced the switch in mail processing to Waterloo that local mail delivery in Decorah would not be affected by the move.  

US Postal Service officials did not respond to a request from decorahnews.com for a comment on the changes.  The US Postal Service has experienced a 20 percent decline in mail volume since 2007.
