Decorah named a semi-finalist in the Iowa Blue Zones competition

Decorah has been named one of 50 semifinalists in the Iowa Blue Zones Project.

The program is part of Governor Terry Branstad's goal to make Iowa the healthiest state in the country.  The collaboration of Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Healthways is asking communities to submit applications for programs to improve their health and well-being.  94 communities submitted applications.  50 were selected for the second round of the project.

Decorah will now be asked to submit an official Blue Zones Project application.  The application will require detailed descriptions of Decorah's readiness to be transformed into a Blue Zones Community. 

Finalists will be selected and notified on February 10th.
