The City Personnel Committee has agreed to advertise the upcoming opening for a new Water Superintendent. Current Water Superintendent Dave Pahlas will retire at the end of the year.
Some city officials had said there is a qualified in-house candidate for the position. But City Administrator Chad Bird lobbied against looking only at in-house candidates, saying "You do a disservice to the taxpayers if you don't cast a wide net." City Personnel Committee chair Rachel Vagts agreed, stating the city needs to make sure it hires the best possible candidate.
