Students headed home after classes were dismissed because of a gas line rupture

Classes were cancelled at Decorah High School Monday morning after construction workers accidentally hit a gas line, forcing an evacuation of the building.

Students were moved to John Cline Elementary School at first.  Then when crews from Black Hills Energy turned off the gas, classes at the high school were dismissed because there was no heat in the high school building.  That means Decorah High School students are being dismissed for the rest of the day Monday.

School officials announced Monday afternoon that all high school practices and evening activities would be held as scheduled Monday night.
