As deer hunting season approaches, the Decorah Elks Club is looking for donations of deer hides to be used in the Veterans Leather Program sponsored by The Elks.
The program provides rehabilitation for disabled or injured veterans by giving them the hides to make beautiful items, including purses, wallets, jackets and moccasins. The Veterans Leather Program also will provide a free pair of fingerless gloves to any veteran who is wheelchair bound, thereby protecting their hands during movement.
To donate your hids to this program, bring them to the Decorah Elks Lodge at 402 W. Main Street on Sunday, December 4th or Sunday, December 11th between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. both days or call Penny at 563-380-3083.
