A second Decorah non-profit organization is attempting to get funding from Chase Bank via an online voting contest hosted on Facebook.
JP Morgan Chase & Co. Chase Community Giving is awarding $3 million nationally in a campaign where people vote on Facebook for their favorite nonprofit organization in good standing with a budget of less than $500,000. The winner receives $250,000, second place is $100,000 and each placeholder from 3-100 receives $25,000. The competition runs through Tuesday, November 22nd.
Officials of the Raptor Resource Project—the organization in charge of the Decorah eaglecam—say they would use the money from Chase not only to help support the world-famous Decorah Bald Eagle cam, other RRP programs to preserve and strengthen raptor populations, expand participation in raptor preservation, and help foster the next generation of preservationists.
Go to https://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/charities/411693761-raptor-resource-project to vote or visit RRP's website at www.raptorresource.org and click the Chase Community Giving Link.
The Friends of the Decorah Hatchery group is also trying to win a grant. People who vote on Facebook get up to ten votes, but only one per non-profit organization, so Decorah residents can vote both for Raptor Resource and Friends of the Decorah Hatchery.
