After school program Monday will feature making journals

Posted: Sun, Nov 13, 2011 7:23 AM

The Decorah Public Library's public meeting room will be painted and re-carpeted later this month.  Because of that, an after school program scheduled for Monday, November 28th, has been rescheduled to this Monday instead.

"Make a Weatherproof Journal" will be held from 3:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.  The afterschool program will teach participants how to make use of a variety of recyclable and "re-purposed"  materials to construct a small, weatherproof journal that features fold-out pages for maps and large sketches as well as smaller pages for jotting observations while outside.  All of the parts will be pre- cut to give plenty of time for constructing and decorating the journal.

Information about recycling in Winneshiek will be available as well as a book prize for anyone who completes a little recycling quiz.

This and other YourSpace afterschool programs are free of charge, open to youth age 8 and older, as well as adults, and feature a light snack.
