County Planning & Zoning Committee listens to public comments about new comprehensive plan

Winneshiek County is updating its Comprehensive Plan.

So the county's Planning & Zoning Committee held an open house Tuesday evening to let members of the public ask questions and give comments.  About two dozen people attended the two-hour informal meeting, getting a chance to talk with a variety of county officials and with representatives from Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, which is assisting with the update.

Committee members will use those comments to guide their work in updating the Comprehensive Plan, the document that guides the County's growth and future development.  A number of other open houses are planned throughout Winneshiek County in the future.  County officials say they hope to have the Comprehensive Plan completed some time next fall.
