Tobacco Awareness Week will be celebrated next week

Winneshiek County supervisors have signed a proclamation noting that next week is Tobacco Awareness Week in Northeast Iowa.

The proclamation sets November 13th through 19th as Northeast Iowa Tobacco Awareness Week in Winneshiek County.  It calls upon all citizens, parents, governmental agencies, public and private institutions, churches, businesses and schools in Winneshiek County to raising awareness of tobacco issues.

This year's observance is focusing on second-hand smoke, which kills 50,000 to 60,000 Americans every year.
