Soldier with family in Decorah is laid to rest Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday morning in Calmar for a Decorah native who was killed in Afghanistan.

20-year-old PFC Christopher Alexander Horns of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was killed October 22nd during combat operations in Kandahar Province in Afghanistan when the assault force triggered an improvised explosive device (IED).

Horns was a Ranger automatic rifleman assigned to Co. C, 2nd BN, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, WA.  He was on his first deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The funeral services Saturday at the Calmar Lutheran Church attracted a large crowd, including a number of active military and retired military.  American flags were displayed in front of the church, held by various veterans.
