The State of Iowa has approved new county supervisor district boundaries in Winneshiek County.
The redistricting plan approved by the Temporary Redistricting Commission and the Winneshiek County Board had been sent on to Des Moines, where state elections officials had asked for some minor changes involving wording and paperwork. The changes did not affect district boundaries.
The new map assigns Decorah area residents to four different supervisor districts. It also reduces to 11 the number of voting precincts, which will save the county some money on the cost of holding elections.
The new boundaries will be used starting January 15th of 2012. Next Tuesday's city elections and January 3rd's caucus will be using the "old" precinct boundaries.
