Northeast Iowa Community College is offering several 75-hour Nurse Aide courses for job seekers or for community members interested in a healthcare career. The 75-hour Nurse Aide courses have been designed to meet the training requirements to provide the basic level of knowledge, attitudes and skills common to the nurse aide employed in nursing facilities.
Upon successful completion of this course, students become eligible to take the state written and skills competency exams, which are required to become a nurse aide in the state of Iowa. The courses are designed to teach students nursing aide care through lecture and labs, clinical settings experience and on-the-job training environments in local long term care facilities.
The first two classes will begin Monday, October 24th at NICC Calmar, with clinical experience either at Thornton Manor in Lansing or at the Ossian Senior Hospice. A third class will begin November 3rd, with lectures at the Aase Haugen Homes in Decorah, labs at the NICC Cresco Center and clinicals at the Aase Haugen Homes.
