The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is warning the public of a possible scam.
Deputies say a lone female was stopping at rural homes in the county on Thursday, saying she was conducting a survey for the U.S. Department of Health. The women then asked several questions, including one about whether residents leave Iowa for the winter.
The U.S. Department of Health was contacted. Officials say they NEVER ask for any personal information and any surveyors they hire always show credentials.
If you are approached about a survey and have any questions, contact the Sheriff's Department at (563) 382-4268
