UPDATED AND CORRECTED: Local sorority begins its pie sales

Posted: Mon, Oct 10, 2011 6:08 PM

A local sorority has begun its annual Homemade Pie Sale.  Alpha Sigma, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, will be taking orders for pies from now until November 4th. Prices are $7 for pumpkin and $9 for pecan.  To place a pie order, contact Lindsey at (563-380-5140) or Laurie at (563) 379-6206.

Proceeds from the pie sale will benefit Riley Scheidel, the 3-year-old son of Nathan and Melissa Scheidel of Lawler, who was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Riley received his first doses of chemotherapy at the end of August and after more than a week in the hospital, was able to go home. He continued to receive weekly treatments at Gundersen Lutheran in September, and his treatment plan could continue for the next 3-5 years.

As in years past, Alpha Sigma will be giving away three turkey dinner grocery prizes (donated by Quillins of Decorah). You will automatically be entered into the turkey dinner drawing with the purchase of a pie.  Prize winners will be notified the week of November 14th.  Update and corrected: Pie orders may be picked up at the Decorah Lutheran Church basement on Wednesday, November 23rd from noon until 6:00 p.m.  (Corrects earlier information)
