Tthe deconstruction of the Caretaker's House at Wellington Place is proceeding as scheduled. Oneota Historic Future Alliance president Jim Burns met with county supervisors Monday morning to give them an update on the project.
Burns said the instructor who had been hired to teach an NICC class on deconstruction techniques was injured, forcing the search for a new instructor. Because of that, the NICC class will now run from Monday, October 31st, through Friday, November 11th. Burns stressed that rumors that the class would not be held are false--an instructor from Connecticut will fly out to NE Iowa to teach the class.
Meanwhile, the supervisors approved a bid of $3,245 from Haasco, Ltd. to handle asbestos removal in the building.
A motion to release fuds to pay for the asbestos removal and other deconstruction costs passed unanimously.
In addition to Burns' visit, County Engineer Lee Bjerke will visit the board at 9:30 a.m. Monday to discuss road matters
