Decorah man is one of six who wil receive Luther's Distinguished Service Award on Friday

Luther College has announced the names of six individuals who will receive the Distinguished Service Award at 6:30 p.m. Friday as part of the college's Founder's Day Festival.

The Distinguished Service Award is given in recognition of success and achievements in professional fields, service to society, contributions to community and loyalty and service to Luther.

The award will be given to Ronald Christian ('61) of Fairfax, Virginia, the director of Lutheran Housing Services in Virginia and chairman of the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority; Ruth Drews ('76) of New Haven, Connecticut, principal pastor at Iglesia Luterana La Resureccion; Henry Emmons ('81) of Northfield, Minnesota, Penny George Institute for Health and Healing, Abbott-Northwestern Hospital; Lois Hill ('85( of New York, N.Y., owner, president and designer for Lois Hill Accessories; Stephen Noltner ('81) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, an  anesthesiologist with Aurora Medical Group in Milwaukee; and Robert Rosholt ('51) of Decorah, professor emeritus of political science at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Rosholt taught at Luther from 1956 to 1958, then headed to the College of Wooster from 1964-1968, and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania from 1969-1991. He currently volunteers with Decorah First Lutheran Church and Vesterheim Museum.
