Two-car accident leads to $5,000 in damages

Decorah Police tried to respond to a traffic accident last Tuesday, but when they got to the scene of the accident, both cars had left!

Police eventually tracked down 82-year-old Dolores Blong of St. Lucas and 38-year-old Elcazar Vivero of Postville.  Blong said she pulled out from Old Stage Road onto Highway 9, heading west, when a van in the middle lane turned in front of her and struck the side of her car.  Vivero said he was westbound on Highway 9 when a vehicle pulled out in front of him at the intersection.

Neither driver was ticketed.  The crash did $5,000 in damages.
