Winneshiek Medical Center named one of top 100 rural hospitals in the nation

The National Rural Health Association has named Winneshiek Medical Center to its list of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States.

The association used the "Hospital Strength Index" to determine the rankings.  The index looks at 56 different measures of performance by a hospital.  Among those measures are ratings of a hospital's market strength, financial strength and quality and safety performance.

Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Administrative Officer Dan Werner said "Some time ago, Winneshiek Medical Center leadership had the foresight to begin infrastructure enhancements in preparation for anticipated changes in health care.  Today we are in the position to meet newly-released regulations, while providing safe and quality-focused health care for area families."
