Two doctors resign at Winneshiek Medical Center

Winneshiek Medical Center officials are looking to replace two local physicians who have submitted their resignations.

Surgeon Dan Mansfield has resigned to take a job in Madison, Wisconsin.  WMC officials say they have had four applications for Mansfield's position since he announced his resignation two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, family practice doctor Greg Tjossem has resigned to take a job in Brookings, Oregon.  Winneshiek Medical Center officials have interview lined up over the next two weeks with two candidates for previous family practice openings at the hospital.  WMC Chief Operating Officer Dave Jordahl says it is "a lot tougher" to fill openings for family practice physicians.  As a result, hospital officials have also been in contact with firms that will provide temporary physician help.
