September weather was cool and dry in Decorah

September in Decorah was cool and dry, says Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz.

The average daily temperature in September was 59.3 degrees--2.6 degrees cooler than the historical average.  Temperatures ranged from 92 degrees on September 1st and 2nd to 32 degrees on September 15th.

Bernatz says since temperature information has started being recorded, there have been 93 warmer Septembers and 22 cooler Septembers.

September was the first month since January to have a below average mean temperature.

2.5 inches of rain fell in Decorah in September.  That was 1.12 inches less than average. Nearly one inch of rain fell on September 26th.
