The Decorah Police Department and the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce have announced that Trick or Treating in Decorah will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., despite the Decorah High School football playoff in Clear Lake on that date.
The Decorah Police Department and Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce say they made the decision several years ago to hold city Trick or Treating on Halloween evening each year. Trick or Treating this year will still be held on the same date as previously selected.
--Aase Haugen Homes will be open to trick-or-treaters from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday. Four individual neighborhoods will be holding trick-or-treat, as will the assisted living facility and Oneota Village Assisted Living across the street.
--The 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat event sponsored by Stoneridge Church will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Fareway parking lot. Children are invited to come and trick or treat from vehicle to vehicle. All vehicles and owners will be decorated in Halloween attire.
--Several Luther College residence halls will be open from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday to members of the Luther Community. Trick-or-Treating will be held in the first-year residence halls--Ylvisaker, Olson and Brandt Halls. Participating rooms are identified by an orange pumpkin on the door. There will be cookie decorating in Olson, craft making in Brandt and games in Ylvisaker.
