Kelly e-mails decorahnews.com about the proposed road project on Short Street:
"Has anyone noticed the stakes and flags that were put out today on Short street? These are the markers for the proposed street and sidewalk expansion.
Does it make sense to steal property from tax-paying business owners? Also, does it make sense to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a project that makes no sense?
We "may" get a grant we are told to help pay for some of this project, but where is the rest of the money coming from? The tax-paying citizens of this community are in the dark on this project. Don't we deserve to be told what is happening or does the small group of Council people and other employees of the city plan to jam it thru the system?"
(Editor's note: decorahnews.com reported on October 4th that the City of Decorah's Streets Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 1st, to review plans for the Short Street project. Kelly and anyone else should attend this meeting to give elected city officials whatever opinions members of the public have about the project.
