New Vesterheim exhibit features Peale collection of Norwegian furniture

There's a new exhibit at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum.  "The Peale Collection: Norwegian Furniture from Hill Farm" will be on view now through April 30th of 2012.  The exhibition highlights 22 Norwegian antiques that Ruth Stafford Peale, the widow of Norman Vincent Peale, bequeathed to Vesterheim. Norman Vincent Peale wrote the classic best-seller, "The Power of Positive Thinking."  The pieces range from a small hand-carved cup to large painted cupboards.

An opening reception and gallery talk will be on Thursday, October 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with free admission thanks to Vesterheim's "Free Thursdays," sponsored by Decorah Bank & Trust. The exhibition is sponsored by Owen and Naomi Bekkum of Madison, Wisconsin, with other generous support.
