Fall colors ought to be at their peak in another week in Northeast Iowa, according to the Iowa DNR. The latest fall color report says the maples are turning orange and pink on the Mississippi River bluffs; ash trees have started to turn color; the walnuts are yellow now and starting to drop; and sumac and Virginia creeper are turning as well.
The peak date for fall colors is estimated to be the weekend of October 8th and 9th. You can get updates by visiting http://www.traveliowa.com/fallfoliage.aspx
