The newly replanted front garden at Aase Haugen Homes was dedicated on Tuesday.
The garden was originally planned and planted by the Decorah Town and Country Garden Club 20 years ago. Garden Club member Connie Strom says it had gotten overgrown and hard to maintain. This spring garden club members decided to tear out the existing garden and plant decorative grasses. The existing plants were removed and sold at the Farmer's Market, providing funds for the new garden. The Depot Outlet and the Aase Haugen Homes Auxiliary also chipped in with contributions.
Garden club members started digging in May and continued throughout the summer. They also added a bench where residents could sit outside and look at the scenery.
Strom says Pinter Landscaping was very helpful in providing the decorative grasses at a reasonable price.
