Northeast Iowa Community College is offering a series of continuing education classes about wine.
The classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. at the NICC Cresco Center, starting October 6th. Instructor Don Buhr will help class members to get a better understanding and enjoyment of wine. Buhr has an extensive background in viticulture and began making homemade wine in 1957. He has grown grapes for over 30 years.
The first session, "Wine 101" (# 5242), will discuss the history of wine, how to read a wine label and what grapes are in the wine consumed. The "Tour a Vineyard" (# 5243) class includes a trip to Buhr's local vineyard and personal wine cellar. In the final session of the series, "Wine & Good Pairings" (# 5245), he will provide a lesson on wine and food with complementary samples.
Interested students must be at least 21 years of age and may register for the series of classes or individual classes.
