Luther College wind turbine expected to be in operation by the end of October

Luther College officials say they expect their new wind turbine will begin commercial operation by November 1st.

Before that can happen, an electrical transmission line between the wind turbine and Alliant Energy's distribution line must be built.  The 1.1-mile line will run underground, connecting the turbine to the Alliant Energy distribution line that serves the Luther campus and much of the west side of Decorah.

General Electric workers will then commission the turbine after the transmission line is installed.

A dedication ceremony for the wind turbine will be held Saturday, November 12th, before the start of the Luther vs. Wartburg football game at noon in Carlson Stadium.
