Winneshiek Medical Center gets new ER doctor

Winneshiek Medical Center's Emergency Department has a new doctor.

Dr. Tedd Gentry, an emergency medicine physician, recently began working at the hospital and its clinic.  Gentry received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University, his medical degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed his residency from Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals, Inc. in Saginaw, Michigan.  He comes to Winneshiek Medical Center most recently from a clinic in Manchester, Iowa.

"I have provided care in family medicine for many years and look forward to using my experience, which includes OB, to help people in emergency health situations.  Emergency medicine has a different focus than medicine practiced in a clinical setting.  Rather than focusing on disease prevention or health maintenance, we are evaluating patients for immediate needs and treatment.  With that comes a different patient/doctor relationship, but it still is very rewarding to be there to help someone in their time of need."

The Winneshiek Medical Center's Emergency Department treats over 9,200 patients a year. It is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
