The Decorah Community School Board received a brief update Monday night regarding the ongoing high school renovation project. It appears to be on track and on budget. School officials indicated that disruption to the students was minimal and that students had little, if any, concerns about the current impact of work happening at the school.
Highlights include:
• Lockers and locks are in and about to be installed.
• The library/media center is about 90 percent complete on sheet rock work, and may be occupied by November 1.
• The new wood shop and district shop have outside walls and are expected to be mostly operational by November 1.
• The new gym area footings are mostly done and wall construction could begin there very soon. Workers will then move to foundation work in the front of the building.
• Furniture for the new computer labs should arrive and be installed in several weeks.
• By next summer about half the building should be climate controlled.
