Luther College has given the 2011 Jacobson-Rugland Award to Kansas City area resident John R. Miller, co-founder of Miller & Newberg consulting actuary firm.
The award honors an outstanding fraternal actuary for contributions to the actuarial profession. The award is named in honor of Reuben Jacobson and Walter L. Rugland, graduates of Luther who distinguished themselves as actuaries and leaders in the fraternal benefit industry.
Miller has more than 30 years experience as a consulting actuary. He holds the bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota.
