Police are investigating the shooting of a cat

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is investigating a case of criminal mischief.
A resident of 220th Avenue in Military Township reported to deputies that a four-door black SUV with a top rack had stopped on the gravel road near his home just before 7:00 Saturday evening. The resident heard a single gunshot and went outside to investigate. The resident then discovered one of their cats had been shot.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Sheriff's Department at (563) 382-4268.
