Chris Norton's return to the Luther college football field was supported by numerous family members, as well as by the physical therapists who have worked with him the last 11 months at Mayo Clinic.

In a post on Norton's CaringBridge account, sister Alex said: "We had tons of family and friends drive up for the day, and it was great they were able to make it, because they have helped us out in so many ways the past 11 months, and they are so proud of Chris. Before the game we were all able to hang out and have a tailgate, then we were introduced, and then the big event with Chris. Chris was pushed out by two of the captains, Obi and Kyle. He then stood with them for the national anthem, and then he went to the middle of the field, shook hands with the other players, and then stood again for the coin toss. His standing was great, and a lot of people commented on how strong and good he looked. His hard work over the past 11 months has really paid off."
