The State of Iowa has given its approval to the map of new voting districts created in the City of Decorah. The redistricting was required due to the 2010 U.S. Census figures.
The revised City of Decorah ward map was approved unanimously by the Decorah City Council in July. The new map makes substantial changes to Ward 1 and Ward 2, but very minor changes to Wards 3 & 4.
County Auditor Ben Steines says his office has also received a letter from the State of Iowa, but the letter notified the county that the City of Decorah districts have been approved--NOT the county supervisor districts.
If approved by the state, the new boundaries for city and county districts will be used starting January 15th of 2012.
