August in Decorah was warm and dry

Posted: Fri, Sep 2, 2011 8:01 AM

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says it was dry in Decorah in August.

Bernatz says 2.33 inches of rain fell during August--most of that in a 1.45 inch rainfall on August 23rd.  The total was 1.65 inches less than normal August precipitation.  Still, Decorah has a slight precipitation surplus of 1.55 inches over the last 12 months.

Bernatz says temperatures were slightly above average in August.  The average daily temperature was 71 degrees--7/10ths of a degree above normal.  No records were set in August, with the temperature hitting 90 degrees just once--on August 1st.
