Seed Savers Exchange has a worldwide reputation. Still, it didn't exactly hurt to have the President of the United States pay a visit on Monday.
SSE executive director John Torgrimson tells decorahnews.com "the positive response (to President Obama's visit) was overwhelming." The visit helped to highlight the issue of genetic diversity, says Torgrimson.
Seed Savers was featured on local TV newscasts and in the Des Moines Register. Even President Obama gave some free publicity, joking that "Michelle will love the seeds they (Seed Savers) gave me."
Torgrimson says "we're very proud" of the job seed Savers did in hosting the President. 15 SSE staff members were among those working the event on Monday.
