Some people get a piece of cake for their birthday.  Others get a birthday card.  Decorah resident Barb Mahr got a hug from the President of the United States.

When Decorah Bank & Trust employees came to work on Tuesday morning, they received word that the Secret Service was allowing people into the area on Water Street across from the Hotel Winneshiek.  So Barb and other bank employees headed out the bank, hoping to get a glimpse of the President.

Barb got more than that.  As President Obama approached, another bank employee shouted, "It's her birthday today."  The president joked with Mahr about that--and then gave her a hug.
