Summer projects wrapping up as school year approaches

The Decorah Community School Board received an update Monday night from Greg Schaller, Building and Grounds Manager, regarding summer projects in the system, as they prepare for school opening on August 18. Schaller said things were in good shape for opening and they would see an extra push of preparation this week and through the weekend, particularly as they work around the high school renovation areas.

Some of the projects this summer have included: West Side – an outdoor classroom stage, trike trail, fire alarm work, and slides; Carrie Lee – painting, library shelving, and planters in front of the building; Middle School – handrail painting; John Cline – fire alarm system work.

Work continues on the tennis court construction. Leveling and preparation is expected to be finished this week, included the laying of asphalt. After that, about a month of drying will be needed before application of the final finish.
