Lemkes drop request for rezoning of property

The Decorah Planning and Zoning Commission will NOT hold a public hearing Monday night on a request from Dwaine and Cheryl Lemke of Decorah to rezone their property near 103 First Street to M-2 manufacturing.  The Decorah Board of Adjustment had earlier ruled against the Lemke's request to be allowed a variance that would have allowed a warehouse building to be completed on their property, but the board voted 4-1 against the variance.  The Lemkes could have continued their legal battle by taking the matter to the Planning and Zoning Commission, but City of Decorah officials say the requested public hearing has been cancelled.
