Luther College 2008 graduate Ryan Fordice has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for the 2011-12 school year. A highly competitive award, the Fulbright scholarship provides funds for a year's educational experience abroad, including travel, health insurance and a living stipend.
Four Luther College students and alumni have been named recipients of Fulbright Awards in the past year.
Fordice, a 2008 Luther graduate from Dubuque, graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with majors in religion and music. He will serve as an English language instructor at Gaziantep University in Gaziantep, Turkey.
In time outside the classroom, Fordice plans to study Islam and the nature of religion in Turkey's secular society. Following his time in Turkey, Fordice intends to pursue graduate study in religion.
