Fire Department releases details of skid loader fire on Wednesday

The Decorah Fire department has released details of a skid loader fire Wednesday night at 9:37 p.m. at the Gary Smorstad farm at 1272 Pontopiddan Road.

On arrival of the first firefighters, the owner had pulled a burning skid loader from the building and had extinguished the fire in the skid loader.  There was no obvious fire in the shed.  Hot spots on the skid loader were extinguished and the shed was checked for fire with nothing found. 

The skid loader was destroyed.  There was heat and smoke damage to the shed.  The cause of the fire appears to be in the area of the skid loader and is not considered suspicious.
