Ask Mr. Answer Person: "What is being built next to the Decorah HS baseball field?"

Several decorahnews.com readers have asked about the large rock that has been placed next to the Decorah HS baseball field, near the fence with the Viking sign.

Mr. Answer Person has been told the rock is the site of a sculpture being built by iron sculptor Kelly Ludeking, a Decorah native.  You probably remember Ludeking was the creator of a sculpture called "The Viking" that was placed in front of the Decorah Middle School.  For an article about that sculpture, visit http://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2010/11/8255.html

The new sculpture will be in the same style.  So far the base of the sculpture has been laid and the bottom part of the steel sculpture has gone in.  Decorah High School officials say Ludeking hopes to have the entire sculpture completed in time for this fall's classes.
