Meteorologist Todd Shea at the National Weather Service La Crosse Office says our heat wave should build through the week.
Excessive Heat Warnings are issued when temperature/humidity indices equal or exceed 105 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 48 hours and night-time indices are equal or higher than 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The La Crosse Weather Bureau is forecasting temperature/humidity indices on Monday to reach 110; Tuesdays indices to 109, and Wednesday's indices to 107.
The public should avoid strenuous activities during the heat of the day, and stay well hydrated water while avoiding caffeine, soda, and alcoholic drinks that tend to take water out of your system. If at all possible try to stay indoors in an air conditioned space, use fans to circulate the air as needed.
