City ward redistricting plan is approved

The City of Decorah is getting new ward boundaries.

A revised ward map was approved unanimously Tuesday night by the Decorah City Council following a public hearing at which no one spoke.

The new map makes substantial changes to Ward 1 and Ward 2, but very minor changes to Wards 3 & 4.

Now that the city has approved the new ward boundaries, their map will be forwarded to Winneshiek County, which will use the city wards as building blocks in drawing up a new map of county supervisor districts.
