Decorah resident Steve Mc Cargar has filed a complaint with the Iowa Department of Agriculture, claiming a recent lawn chemical application at Luther College was handled improperly.

Iowa Department of Agriculture Pesticide Bureau Chief Chuck Eckermann tells decorahnews.com an investigator from his department, Steve Van Helten, visited Luther College and collected samples, which are now being analyzed.

Says Eckermann, "At this point no determination regarding the complaint has been made. Once sample results are available the case will be evaluated and the final determination will be sent to the applicator and copied to the complainant."

McCargar claims employees of the company hired by Luther College to apply lawn chemicals on campus in early June misapplied the chemicals, doing the work during windy conditions and near water.  He claims the faulty application caused damages to numerous treet and garden plants throughout the Luther College campus.
