An NICC-sponsored class on environmentally responsible deconstruction of buildings will be taught in October--if enough students sign up.
The class is expected to deconstruct the Caretakers House at Wellington Place as a practical exercise for the students.
Monday morning Oneota Historic Future Alliance representative Jim Burns discussed the situation with county supervisors, asking for the extension of the deadline to tear down the building. OHFA representatives say using the NICC class to tear down the building would mean that less debris from the building will wind up in the landfill.
