New name for the clinic at Winneshiek Medical Center

The clinic at Winneshiek Medical Center has changed its name.  Once known as "Decorah Clinic Physicians – Mayo Health Systems at Winneshiek Medical Center," the clinic is now called "Mayo Clinic Health System at Winneshiek Medical Center."  

Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Administrative officer Dan Werner is stressing that the change is a name change only and NOT a change in ownership of the clinic.  "Although the community will now see the Mayo Clinic Health System logo adjacent to the Winneshiek Medical Center logo, our ownership has not changed," said Werner.  "The rebranding of Mayo Clinic Health System is an outward reflection of the collaboration medical professionals have participated in for years.  Winneshiek Medical Center has not become Mayo Clinic; however, we are pleased to be connected to an organization with world-renowned medical excellence that has proven time and again their support of local care."

In the 80s and early 90s the Decorah medical practice was known as "Medical Associates."  In 1992 it associated with Mayo Health System and became known as "Decorah Clinic Physicians."  In 2005 Winneshiek Medical Center purchased the Decorah Clinic Physicians practice and renamed it "Decorah Clinic Physicians – Mayo Health Systems at Winneshiek Medical Center."  The latest name change in 2011 was brought on by a restructuring of Mayo Clinic, so that physicians in Decorah are now part of the "Mayo Clinic Health System."
